A hat labeled as made of paper is either made of pure paper or with a blend of cotton or polyester for better resistance to bending and wrinkling.
Recycled paper is treated with natural oils and heat, then processed, resulting in a “fabric” that is soft enough to wear, strong enough not to wrinkle, and green enough to have a bright future in the industry and be labeled as a low-impact material.
Twisted paper strands are braided into a continuous length of braid. Then sewn together with a slight overlap, starting from the center. The top of the hat and brim are then shaped into the desired style.
Maintenance and handling of paper hat
As you can probably guess, paper is a fragile material, so the hat must be handled in a way that does not put pressure on the material. Any repeated strong compression of the hat can lead to breaking of the stems. Repeatedly pressing the material firmly with your fingers at the front of the hat when putting it on or taking it off also leads to damage.
Do not expose the paper hat to high humidity. If the hat is exposed to high humidity, it will lose its original shape.
